Towards sustainable growth

The rubber plantation sector in India is dominated by small growers around one million. The Rubber Board has been promoting voluntary institutions of small holders by organizing them into self-help groups called Rubber Producers Societies (RPSs). This is an initiative to overcome the inherent weakness in this sector as a result of the preponderance of small holdings and small farming size.

Rubber Board has promoted a number of companies as part of its second-stage development program for RPSs, considering the economies of scale required for processing value-added rubber. The companies, in association with these societies, have adopted the concept of an agribusiness consortium.

The board of directors is the managing body of the company. The members of the Board include eminent rubber growers and technical experts.
